Xbox 360 HD DVD playing at 1080i?

I bought a HD DVD player for my Xbox 360 the other day and promptly bought a HD DVD movie to play on it (with my 1080p TV!).

I was slightly confused as to why it was displaying at 1080i instead of 1080p and I just found out that it's because I am connecting with component cables which can only output HD-DVD to 1080i on my TV. Games are fine at 1080p (more than fine!!) but it looks like I will have to use a VGA cable to connect the 360 to the TV if I want to watch HD-DVD in the super fine 1080p setting.

new games channel on sky!

I have been watching the new channel on sky (291) called Xleague.tv

what a great channel!! they have a program called "the match" where they show team games like gears of war and command and conquer with match commentators who talk you through the games that are being played. The other day, they were showing a Rainbow 6 capture the capsule game and it was great to watch it happen over the shoulder of the different players.

The commentary also helps you find out special areas that are good for camping and defending, great work sky tv!!

I set my dvd recorder going to record my partners daughter playing Fifa2006 because she always sees something funny while she's playing like a referree doing silly things or a USA player scoring a silly own goal but last night nothing funny happened for a whole DVD-rw!

So much for finding some gems! I have got some good HD movies on my latest demo disc so I might have to encode them and get them on here soon.

I made my first xbox 360 gameplay video

I finally got around to getting a dvd recorder and this is the first thing I recorded.
It's a race from burnout revenge on the xbox 360. It seems to have encoded a bit darker than it played but I think that's just my tv setting being so high. I had to set the output to PAL50 instead of PAL60 but I don't know if that makes any difference.

After a fairly slow and standard start - this game really kicks off - and once Jack receives his Feral injection the game takes on a new and exciting twist which opens up different styles of combat which are particularly useful for close combat fighting. Things get even more suspenseful when the 'aliens' turn up and once Jack enters the mines things get very intense. If, like me, when you start this game you think 'and...' - stick with it, you will not be disapointed - the game just gets better and better (and harder). The game is also huge, not one of those you can finish after just a couple of days every time you think you must be coming to the end of the game - it just carries on, upping the ante and the fun. Well worth your money - and of the 6 games that I have played on the 360 at the moment, it is undoubtedly the best, though it is run close by Ghost Recon - this one is less realistic, but exceptionally good fun nonetheless. Buy it, play it, and enjoy it!

There are a few achievements in this game. there are seven to be exact. This game is getting kind of hard to explain so why dont you go out and try it for your self.

I was given this game by someone who worked an event for the official release, it's quite good!

Saints Row represents the latest offering into the now crowded genre, and the first for the Xbox 360. It’s a game that isn’t shy about the fact that many of its mechanics are ripped straight from Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto series, but for Saints to truly make a name for itself it will have to take a few chances to separate itself from the competition. We’ve spent the past few weeks trudging through the mountains of gameplay that Saints Row has to offer, and have emerged unscathed, albeit a bit more thugged out than we remember.

Dead Rising follows the harrowing tale of Frank West, an overly zealous freelance photojournalist on a hunt for the scoop of a lifetime.

In pursuit of a juicy lead, he makes his way to a small suburban town only to find that it has become overrun by zombies. He escapes to the local shopping mall, thinking it will be a bastion of safety but it turns out to be anything but.

It will be a true struggle to survive the endless stream of undead, but players will have full reign of a realistic shopping center, utilizing anything they find to fight off the flesh-hungry mob and search for the truth behind the horrendous epidemic.
